What’s Up With So Much Indie Rock Having Drowned Out Vocals?

As I have been trying out different styles of music than my norm, I have been finding a trend of drowned out vocals in indie rock. I want to know where that started and how to get used to it lol.
 
Well, most modern indie rock has drowned out vocals probably because the vocals are NO GOOD or wimpy to say the least, so they are faded out during mixing and the music takes over :):)(
