I don't know if the Hawks invented punk, but they sure invented the anarchy factor behind punk. Their music questioned every aspect of life/society ...they are underground to the marrow, they never compromised and never wimped out on their fans by producing "commercial" garbage, unlike other over-blazoned artists.
