Brian is one of the very few performers who once sang in a band and later went solo which I really like equally. Most singers/artists who went solo at a certain moment in their career wimped out solo -------like highly overrated Sting (Police), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), just to name 2.
Rory Gallegher was the opposite, after minor success in band Taste, he turned down offer of guiarist job with the Stones (later accepted by Ronnie Wood) because he wanted to pursue a solo singer/songwriter career.
I guess you could say Eric Clapton also enjoyed Solo success after Yarbirds, Cream and D & Dominoes.
